the Gabler School in Waltham

Those of you who have read my post about Abandoned Buildings may be interested to know that the Gabler School has now been demolished. This upsets me to no end.
This was the school that I have pics of, and I'm going to upload the last pictures I took back in the summer. The door was open so my sister and I just went in and took pictures.
It breaks my heart that a building can be designed and built, and then, whether it's good history or bad, destroyed because it's old. This was a beautiful old brick building, probably better made than most buildings made now. And just because it's outlived it's usefulness, and has some bad karma, it's knocked down. I just hope Waltham isn't planning on a mini-mall or something equally horrible.
I heard they were going to build a recreational area, but I don't think that's still as good as just letting the land go, letting it revert back to whatever it wants.
I particularly like the pics I took of the parking lot. The old street lamps look like Idols from the past, while the grass and bushes slowly bust apart the concrete reaching for the sun. They prove to me that the world would get along just fine, and nature would make it's way back, if humans just disappeared off the planet.
